The North East Learning Trust is proud to have our very own outstanding teacher training provider - North East SCITT (formerly Shotton Hall SCITT).

With around 100 primary and secondary trainee recruits each year, North East SCITT has established itself as a trusted and preferred provider of school-based initial teacher training across County Durham and the wider North East of England.

A strong partnership with the National Institute of Teaching and Birmingham University means trainees get the best of both worlds training in schools from day one with their PGCE awarded by a UK university.

By the end of the ‘back to school’ morning I had made up my mind – I was going to change career, and Shotton Hall SCITT was going to be the place I did it.

Lisa Keech - Biology Trainee

For me it's the perfect mixture of a practical and research-based course with hands-on experience from the start as well as the advantage of doing your PGCE theory at Durham University.

Flo Stockley  - MFL trainee

The amount of knowledge already imparted has been amazing. It is delivered in an inspiring way so that confidence is developed from an early stage.
