Inquiry Into White Working Class Educational Outcomes final report

Since summer 2025 our CEO, Dame Lesley Powell DBE, has served on the panel of the Inquiry Into White Working Class Educational Outcomes. Published today, the final report finds that the education system is not serving the interests of white working class children, and calls for "once-in-a-generation" reforms if structural shortcomings are to be fixed.

The Inquiry set out to answer one of the most pressing questions in contemporary public policy: why white working class educational performance is so far behind all other large demographic groups, despite repeated research highlighting the challenge, and how this trend can be reversed.
