Churchill Community College is set to receive a brand new school building following confirmation of rebuild funding.
Over the last two years, NELT has supported the school and worked closely with the Department for Education and North Tyneside Local Authority to drive forward the case for urgent investment to replace the current ageing building.
The Wallsend secondary school and sixth form will soon benefit from a fantastic new learning environment replacing the existing structure with a modern facility from the ground up. Although final plans and timelines for the new school's construction are yet to be confirmed, the planning stage will begin soon.
Speaking of the announcement, our Chief Executive Officer, Dame Lesley Powell DBE, said:
"I am delighted for the children and staff of Churchill Community College who will soon get a brand new school. This investment will not only transform their learning environment, but it will bring lasting benefits to the wider community as future generations of children enjoy improved facilities for years to come."
Executive Headteacher at the school, Joanna Lamb, added:
"Staff are thrilled at the news and I am looking forward to telling the children who I'm sure will be equally excited! I'd like to thank all those who have worked together to secure funding, and I look forward to sharing plans with the local community and wider public as soon as we are able."
