We are thrilled to announce that Meadowdale Academy have received a glowing Ofsted report, grading the school as ‘Good’ in all areas after the inspection in July this year.
Inspectors praised the school, describing it as a caring place ‘where everyone is made to feel welcome’ and ‘where relationships between staff and pupils ensure that pupils enjoy coming to school.’
In addition to providing high-quality pastoral care, staff and leaders were commended for designing a curriculum that is ‘ambitious for all pupils’. Inspectors commented: “From Nursery to Year 6, leaders have ensured that pupils’ knowledge builds over time.”
Safeguarding arrangements and provision for pupils with Special Educational Needs and/or Disabilities (SEND) were judged to be effective. Parents echoed this by saying that the support for their children with SEND is helping them to achieve alongside their peers.
After joining North East Learning Trust (NELT) in 2022, our school has undergone a range of improvements which did not go unnoticed by inspectors. The report stated that the school ‘works extremely well with leaders from the trust to ensure that the areas for improvement are addressed systematically. Leaders recently improved the systems for communicating with parents following responses from a parent survey.’
Headteacher at Meadowdale Academy, Lindsay Coates, commented: “I am absolutely thrilled with the report and the fact that the positive changes have been recognised. We have been on a real journey, and I look forward to continuing this success to ensure the very best for every single pupil at Meadowdale Academy.
“I must say a huge thank you to our team of teaching and support staff who go above and beyond every day, I am so proud of you all. A special thanks must also go to our pupils who are the heart of our Meadowdale family and at the centre of everything we do.”
Chief Executive Officer of the North East Learning Trust, Lesley Powell CBE, said: “Meadowdale Academy is a wonderful school that cares for its pupils and I am pleased that Ofsted inspectors could recognise this.
“I would like to thank the dedicated team of staff who work so hard to ensure that pupils experience an excellent education every day. I must also extend my thanks to the families who have embraced the positive changes.”
